4,000,000 Telephones were formed in 1983 and were active till 1987. In 2006 the band got back together to promote the release of their first album on CD and some new music was created. In February 2021 sax player Rick Woolgar died and this prompted the band to look at material recorded in the mid 1980s but never released.
